Environmental Drilling
Environmental drilling is used to monitor soil and groundwater quality and assist in controlling and remediating contamination. At Strata Drilling Group, all our machines are rubber track mounted, limited access, or hand portable. They are also CE & CSA certified, and equipped with the latest safety features, including integrated auger guards. Our experienced team utilizes state-of-the-art “Direct Push” tools, “Air Rock” drilling, and “Conventional” sampling techniques to ensure efficient and thorough completion of every project.
Geotechnical Drilling
Geotechnical drilling is conducted to determine ground formation characteristics and gather subsurface information for potential construction sites. At Strata Drilling Group, we provide high-quality sampling and testing using state-of-the-art equipment, including SPT (Standard Penetration Test), DPT (Dynamic Penetration Test), CPT (Cone Penetration Test), Shelby Tubes, and Vanes. Our extensive services ensure accurate data collection and analysis for informed decision-making in construction projects.
Limited Access Drilling
Limited access rigs are used when we have the challenge of extreme space constrictions: narrow access, limited work pad area, overhead restrictions and low ceilings. This specialized rig configuration is applicable to all our services (Environmental, Geotechnical, Injection and HRVP).
In addition to the main equipment, we also offer multiple sub-services like concrete, asphalt & rock coring, rapid percussion drills (Pionjar), test pits, ventilation systems, and hand held equipment.

Exploration Drilling
By withdrawing a core of soil or rock from known mineral deposits and potential sites, geologists can analyze the core through chemical assays and conduct mineralogical studies. Strata Drilling Group employs a wide variety of sampling methods, including track-mounted, hand-portable, and heli-portable drilling rigs, to sample mine tailings, sediments, basal till, and rock. This comprehensive approach ensures accurate and detailed exploration drilling services.
Injection Remediation
Strata Drilling Group offers drilling services for the injection of in-situ remediation chemicals and reagents, such as oxidants, reductants, electron donors, and oxygen-releasing compounds. We utilize Geoprobe® high-pressure injection pump systems in conjunction with our Geoprobe® “Direct-Push” probe equipment to ensure precise and effective injection remediation services for our clients.
High Resolution Vertical Profiling
The Membrane Interface Probe (MIP) is one of the highest resolution vertical profiling tools used for detecting contamination during environmental site assessments and characterizations. MIP maps Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in soil and groundwater by using a carrier gas to bring VOCs to the surface through tubing connected to laboratory-grade EC, PID, FID, and XSD detectors for immediate analysis.
Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) is a Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid (NAPL) mapping tool that delineates the depth and horizontal extent of free product and residual petroleum contamination. The fluorescence signal scales proportionally with NAPL concentration, providing accurate mapping.
Extreme Conditions
Strata has extensive experience and expertise in working in extreme conditions, from sweltering heat to freezing Arctic temperatures as low as -30°C. We thrive in situations that include frozen ground, high winds, heavy snowfall, and ice. While these conditions may not be ideal for outdoor activities, they are suitable for accessing certain areas in Northern Canada.
The exploration drilling equipment we provide is entirely mechanical, without any electrical components. This design allows us to complete projects with minimal downtime, prioritizing maximum efficiency and safety in freezing conditions.
In extreme conditions, every task becomes more challenging. Maintenance becomes critical to ensure equipment can operate effectively in freezing conditions, and safety standards must be rigorously always maintained.
